Harry Shaker – First Selectman
In 1980 Harry and his wife Liz moved to Brookfield. It is here in 1989 where Harry made a career by founding his own painting company. The Shakers have 3 adult children: Michael, who works in web design, Eliza, who is in Speech Pathology, and Eric, who this fall will be attending the University of Bridgeport for his Masters in Education.
An alumni of Danbury High School, Harry attended Messiah College in central Pennsylvania in 1972 before moving to Brookfield.
Since 2003, Harry has served the town of Brookfield in many capacities. He served on the Board of Education since his entry into public service, remaining there for four consecutive terms. Over these fourteen years of civil service Harry also served on the Communications, Business and Finance, Curriculum, and Negotiations subcommittees of the BOE. Furthermore, while on the Negotiations subcommittee Harry has worked on all five bargaining units. There’s nothing he can’t do!
Harry’s passion for youth in unquestioned. In addition to his service on the Board of Education, Harry has been closely involved with thousands of children in Brookfield for twenty-three years. His experience ranges from coaching, to officiating, to clinics.
Additionally, Liz has volunteered for 15 years as a class mom and as an intricate part of the High School graduation party committee.
Harry and Liz, along with Michael, Eliza, and Eric, actively attend Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel where Harry has served in the youth program, fundraising for their youth summer mission trips.
Marty Flynn – Selectman
Marty has also served the town of Brookfield in multiple capacities. For the past 4 years, Marty has served as a Selectman for the town of Brookfield. Marty also spent 10 years as Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and 8 years as an Annual Town Meeting moderator, proving his commitment to civil service. Additionally, Marty has served as Chairman of the Republican Town Committee. The owner of a small plumbing business in Brookfield, Marty and his wife, Carol have 2 adult children and have lived in Brookfield for 18 years.
