Harry Shaker announces campaign for Brookfield First Selectman
Brookfield, CT- Brookfield Board of Education Member Harry Shaker will announce his intention to seek the Republican Nomination for First Selectman on Saturday. Shaker will run with Incumbent Selectman Marty Flynn. They will announce at Cadigan Park Pavilion – 465 Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield. Brookfield residents are invited to attend.
“I look forward to engaging in a conversation with Brookfield’s nearly 16,000 residents and having the opportunity to tell them my vision for our town and our community,” stated Shaker. “It is crucial that we put Brookfield back on track and with my experience as a community leader I am looking forward to uniting our community. Our campaign will be a positive campaign for Brookfield’s future.”
Harry Shaker is a 14-year school board member who owns Yankee Paint Contracting. Harry and his wife Liz have three adult children, the youngest of whom just graduated from the University of Connecticut. He has coached baseball, soccer, and basketball in Brookfield for over 30 years and is a member of Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel.
Marty Flynn has been on the Board of Selectmen since 2013. Prior to that, he was the long time Chair of the Brookfield RTC, Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals for 10 years. He owns Martin Flynn Plumbing, which he operates with his son, Sean. Marty and his wife, Carol, have lived in Brookfield for over 20 years. Their daughter, Samantha, just graduated from Nursing School.
“Our residents are ready to see Brookfield do better than we have these last two years. Harry and I have the ability and the experience in town government to know that we can hold the line on taxes and spending,” said Flynn. “It is imperative that we get control our town finances and continue to invest in our infrastructure. I believe that the Shaker-Flynn ticket is the right choice for the future of our town and our community and I look forward to sharing our vision with the residents of Brookfield.”
